Punctuation is vital for written English as well as intonation and pauses are for spoken. It is used to clarify meaning by separating words and sentences. The symbols that we use for punctuation are called: “punctuation marks”. They are the organisers of your writing, they help you give meaning to your sentences.

La puntuacion es vital para la escritura en inglés, asi como la entonación es a la hora del habla. Es usada para enclarecer  el significado de palabras y oraciones.
Los símbolos que usamos en puntuacion son llamados: signos de puntuacion. Son los organizadores de tu escritura, y ayudan a dar significado a tus oraciones.

Every little thing you do in your life can potentialy open a door for you in conection with English. Whether it be for work, love, family, friends or just fun, there are doors everywhere waiting to be opened with merely a smile or a hello!

Cada pequeña cosa que hace en su vida puede abrir potencialmente una puerta para usted en relación al inglés. Ya sea por trabajo, amor, familia, amigos o simplemente diversión, hay puertas en todas partes a la espera de ser abiertas con sólo una sonrisa o un saludo!

Halloween is an annual celebration, but what do we celebrate in Halloween?

The word halloween has Catholic origins, it came from the modified contraction of All Hallows Eve. November 1st is the Catholic day devoted to observance in honor of saints and it is called "All Hollows Day" (or "All Saints Day"). But in Celtic Ireland, during the 5century BC, summer officially ended on October 31. This festivity was called Samhain (sow-en), the Celtic New year.

Halloween es una celebración annual, pero ¿qué es lo que celebramos en Halloween?

La palabra Halloween es de origen católico, viene de la contracción modificada de All Hallows Eve. El 1ro de noviembre es una fecha en que los católicos veneraban a los santos, que es llamada “All Hallows Day” (or “All Saints Day”). Pero en Irlanda, en los tiempos en que la habitaban los celtas durante el siglo 5 A.C, el verano empezaba oficialmente el 31 de octubre. Esta festividad se llamaba Samhain (sow-en), el Año nuevo celta.

“All humans have the innate propensity to learn”

That was what the wise man, the man who had relinquished his hereditary position, had said.  The word was that he was once the prince of the Maldives and had abdicated; he always responded cryptically when we asked him if that was actually true.  It seemed he was ashamed of his past, or somehow fleeing from it, but there was no doubt that he was a true philosopher.  You could see in the furrows of his skin, his peaceful gaze.

Eso fue lo que el hombre sabio, el hombre quien había abandonado su posición hereditaria, había dicho. La leyenda dice que una vez fue el príncipe de las Maldivas y había abdicado; él siempre respondía misteriosamente cuando le preguntábamos si de hecho había sido cierto. Parecía que se avergonzaba de su pasado, o de alguna manera huía de él, pero no había duda de que era un verdadero filósofo. Podía verse en los surcos de su piel, su mirada tranquila.

The luxury of teaching english as a foreigner is more than just an assumed luxury. It requires hours of patience, dedication, listening, observing and correcting among other things. That is not to say it is not rewarding. The very result of these difficulties, once resolved, are the reward. It can come from the mere remembering of a few specific words of vocabulary, or understanding and responding in the correct context with the correct grammar after days or weeks of misuse and having problems.

El lujo de la enseñanza del inglés siendo extranjero es algo más que un lujo asumido. Requiere horas de paciencia, dedicación, escuchando, observando y corrigiendo, entre otras cosas. Esto no quiere decir que no sea gratificante. El resultado de estas dificultades, una vez resueltas, son la recompensa. Puede provenir del simple recuerdo de unas palabras específicas de vocabulario, o de comprender y responder en el contexto correcto con la gramática correcta después de días o semanas de desuso y de tener complicaciones.

Colombia is a country many people have heard of but sadly what is most known about it are things media worldwide typically focuses on about most places mentioned on the news: crime, natural disasters etc. In the case of Colombia it would be drugs, mayor drug dealers (like Pablo Escobar) and overall, drug cartels.

Colombia es un país del cual muchas personas han escuchado, pero lastimosamente se conoce lo que típicamente menciona la prensa acerca de la mayoría de lugares que se mencionan en las noticias: crimen, desastres naturales etc. En el caso de Colombia seria drogas, traficantes de drogas importantes (como Pablo Escobar)y en general, el cartel de drogas.

As any foreigner living and working in Latin America knows, the culture here is very different from that in other countries like the U.S., Canada, England or Australia. This is mainly due to the laid-back attitudes of the Spanish and Italians (the two biggest ethnic groups in Argentina) regarding work and business.

Como todo extranjero que vive y trabaja en América Latina sabe, la cultura acá es muy distinta a la de otros países como EEUU, Canadá, Inglaterra o Australia. Esto es principalmente debido a las actitudes relajadas de los españoles e italianos (los dos grupos étnicos más grandes de Argentina) con respeto el trabajo y los negocios.

It was a Friday night pretty much just like the rest. A hard day´s work and a few beers at happy hour, and I felt ready to go grab the car. As I got to the parking lot,past a sign,  not really minding where I was stepping, I  was about to reach   my car, when speeding car driven obviously by someone inebriated, or under the influence of drugs, swerved rapidly round the ramp, grazed my leg as its sped by, ignoring my screaming and bellowing at the driver at his irresponsability and recklessness.

Era un viernes a la noche como cualquier otro. Luego de un fuerte día de trabajo y unas pocas cervezas en el Happy Hour, me senti listo para ir a mi coche. Al llegar al estacionamiento, luego de pasar un letrero, sin fijarme donde pisaba, vislumbre  mi coche y estaba punto de alcanzarlo cuando un auto veloz que venia cuesta abajo, con alguien ebrio o bajo la influencia de las drogas, dio la vuelta en la rampa y me rozo la pierna  a medida que aceleró, ignorando  mis gritos e insultos en cuanto lo irresponsable que era al conducir.

English has the largest vocabulary of any language in the world. The richness is due to the fact that the English language had grown over the centuries by constantly incorporating words from other languages. Even before the Norman conquest, the Anglo Saxon vocabulary included words borrowed from Latin, Greek, Celtic and Scandinavian.

Inglés tiene la mayor cantidad de vocabulario que cualquier idioma del mundo. La riqueza es debido al hecho de que el idioma Inglés había crecido a lo largo de los siglos constantemente mediante la incorporación de palabras de otros idiomas. Incluso antes de la conquista normanda, el vocabulario anglosajón incluyó palabras prestadas del latín, el griego, el celta y el  escandinavo.
