English has the largest vocabulary of any language in the world. The richness is due to the fact that the English language had grown over the centuries by constantly incorporating words from other languages. Even before the Norman conquest, the Anglo Saxon vocabulary included words borrowed from Latin, Greek, Celtic and Scandinavian.

Inglés tiene la mayor cantidad de vocabulario que cualquier idioma del mundo. La riqueza es debido al hecho de que el idioma Inglés había crecido a lo largo de los siglos constantemente mediante la incorporación de palabras de otros idiomas. Incluso antes de la conquista normanda, el vocabulario anglosajón incluyó palabras prestadas del latín, el griego, el celta y el  escandinavo.

No living language is simply one set of words which can be used the same way in all situations. The nature of language is such that there are an infinite variety of different ways to arrange its elements. What this means is that there are many ways to say the same thing, depending on where you are, who you are talking to, and how you feel. One of the main factors which determine which words and structures are appropriate is the degree of formality of the situation in which you are using the language.

Es incorrecto definir a una lengua viva como un simple conjunto de palabras que se pueden utilizar de forma indiferente ante cualquier situación. La naturaleza de un idioma es tan diversa que existen infinitas formas de organizar los elementos que lo componen. Esto significa que existen muchas formas de expresar lo mismo según el lugar en el que uno se comunique, la persona a quien se dirige y los sentimientos involucrados entre los hablantes. Uno de los factores principales que determina qué palabras y qué estructuras utilizar es el grado de formalidad de la situación en la que se utiliza el lenguaje.

 As soon as I got off the train station, my fears were confirmed..the  taxi stand was only accepting local currency, and all I had on me were a handful of dollars, pesos, and a few ancient coins, and in the cold and crowded tarmac, I had to get my wits to obtain change so I could get to my hotel as fast as possible, where I could l blissfully pay by credit card charge.

Tan pronto como baje a la estación, mis miedos fueron confirmados. El puesto de Taxis solo aceptaba la moneda local, y yo solo tenia un puñado de dólares, pesos y unas pocas monedas viejas, y mientras estaba en el frío anden tuve que usar mi sagacidad para poder arribar al hotel, donde afortunadamente podría pagar con tarjeta de crédito.

Every continent, every country, every region, every city, every village, every neighbourhood has some cultural codes that are unique to it. That difference should be celebrated and often is by travellers. Sometimes though it can produce confusion, uneasiness and even panic when someone who is used to one way of doing things experiences new ways. This is called "Culture Shock". The most obvious factor that leads to shock at a new culture is language. There are numerous other more subtle factors too.

Cada continente, cada país, región, ciudad, cada pueblo y barrio poseen sus propios códigos culturales. Tal diferencia debería ser celebrada y frecuentemente lo es, por los viajantes. Aunque a veces puede generar confusión, intranquilidad e incluso pánico, cuando uno esta acostumbrado a un modo de hacer las cosas y experimenta nuevos modos. A este fenómeno se lo llama Choque Cultural. El mayor factor que nos lleva al Choque de una nueva cultura es el idioma. Hay otros diversos factores también.

Nowadays the music industry is so big, that you do not have the time to listen to all of it. Anyway, people should not loose track of those small young bands that perform in bars and small venues. From my point of view, there is where you will find the most creative musicians. Not only that, but those people play for the sake of passion towards music.

Hoy en día, la industria de la música es tan grande, que uno no tiene el tiempo suficiente para escuchar todo lo que está en cartera.
