It is widely known that most Argentines are coming from European ancestors, which makes them rather different from other Latin American people. Culturally and emotionally speaking, their character is fascinating. It you do not want to be misunderstood, you should learn some things before coming to Argentina.

Argentinian Family Values
As in most countries, the family is the centre of the cultural life. Argentinian families are big and extended with values such as respect and responsibility. Care and hard work are considered honourable values. In terms of religion, there is a widespread freedom among different communities.

Como en la mayoría de los países, la familia es el centro de la vida cultural. Las familias argentinas son grandes con valores tales como el respeto y la responsabilidad. La solidaridad y el trabajo duro se los considera un valor honorable. En cuanto a la religión, existe una diversidad entre las diferentes comunidades.
Communication Style
Argentines are famous for their expressive communication style because they are extremely open, blunt and direct while they keep tactful and diplomatic conversations.
Passion and warmth is easily found among Argentines with Italian blood in their veins. They are often considered close communicators due to the short physical distance between speakers. They might also touch each other while speaking more often than European speakers would do.
Comunicación
Los argentinos son famosos por el estilo de comunicación que poseen dado a que son extremamente extrovertidos, francos y directos mientras que a la vez mantienen conversaciones educadas y diplomáticas.
Algo muy frecuente que se encuentra cuando se habla con argentinos es su pasión y calidad ya que poseen sangre italiana en sus venas. Se los considera como “comunicadores cercanos” dado a la corta distancia entre interlocutores. También puede haber contacto físico mientras hablan más de lo que los europeos suelen hacer.
Meetings
Initial greetings are individual and very warm with a kiss on the right cheek. The same will happen at the end of the meeting. Loud laughs are also commonly found in Argentine meetings or parties.
Reuniones
El saludo inicial es individual y muy cálido con un beso en la mejilla derecha. Lo mismo para el saludo de despedida de la reunión. También, podemos encontrar con frecuencia risas fuertes o carcajadas entre las fiestas o reuniones argentinas.
Gift Giving Etiquette
- If invited to have dinner at an Argentine's home try to bring a small present for the hostess.
- Taxes on imported alcoholic drinks are high, so a bottle of this is always very well received.
- You should open presents immediately.
Regalos
- Si es invitado a una cena en el hogar de argentinos, es de buena costumbre hacerle un pequeño regalo a la anfitriona de la casa.
- Como las bebidas alcohólicas importadas llevan impuestos elevados, será muy bien recibida una bebida así.
- Los regalos deben abrirse apenas se reciben.
Be careful with your Table Manners!
- Wait until the host tells you where to sit.
- Do not start eating until the hostess says so.
- Keep your hands visible while eating, but you should not rest your elbows on the table.
- Argentineans always make a toast before taking the first sip of their drink.
Cuidado con los modales en la mesa!
- Espere a que la anfitriona le indique donde sentarse.
- No empiece a comer hasta que comience la anfitriona y lo indique.
- Deje sus manos visibles en la mesa pero no apoye los codos.
