Nowadays the music industry is so big, that you do not have the time to listen to all of it. Anyway, people should not loose track of those small young bands that perform in bars and small venues. From my point of view, there is where you will find the most creative musicians. Not only that, but those people play for the sake of passion towards music.
Hoy en día, la industria de la música es tan grande, que uno no tiene el tiempo suficiente para escuchar todo lo que está en cartera. De todos modos, las personas no deben perder de vista aquellas pequeñas bandas que tocan en bares y lugares chicos. Desde mi punto de vista, es allí donde se encuentran los músicos creativos. No solo eso, sino que son aquellos que lo hacen por la pasión que tienen por la música.
In general, big bands have to follow the record companies’ commands before releasing a new album or a new song. This is because the companies want to make money out of music, so in order to do that they need to keep the audience satisfied. Even, in some cases they would hire someone to write the songs for the band. Although there is nothing wrong with it, if you compare commercial music with the one played from the heart, you will notice the difference at the spot. The passion that small bands put to their music is not frequently seen. They love what they do and they are willing to perform as much as they can.
En general las bandas grandes deben seguir las indicaciones de las compañías discográficas antes de lanzar un nuevo álbum o tema. Esto se debe a que las empresas quieren hacer dinero de la música, entonces deben mantener al público satisfecho. Hasta en algunos casos contratan sesionistas para escribir las canciones para las bandas. Aunque no tiene nada de malo, si se compara la música comercial con aquella que sale desde dentro, la diferencia se nota a larga distancia. La pasión con la que tocan las bandas pequeñas no es frecuentemente vista. Ellos aman lo que hacen y están dispuestos a hacerlo lo más que puedan.
Here in Buenos Aires there are a lot of bars and small venues for small bands. For instance there is a new place in Colegiales called Gier Music Club. Bands like Older Sister and Danann usually play there. The first one playing Grunge music, and the second one Hard Rock. In Caballito neighborhood you can find La Colorada Bar with Rock and Roll bands like La Divina Gloria. Then in Gran Buenos Aires zone you can find bands like Olevia. There are tons of growing bands in Argentina. Of course, big bands are already well known and everyone knows where they play. But small ones, the only way to listen to them is by going to bars such as the ones mentioned before.
Aquí en Buenos Aires hay una gran cantidad de bares y locales chicos para bandas emergentes. Por ejemplo, hay un lugar nuevo en el barrio de Colegiales llamado Gier Music Club. Algunas como Older Sister o Danann suelen brindar shows allí. La primer banda como exponente del Grunge, mientras que la segunda como exponente del Hard Rock clásico. En el barrio de Caballito se encuentra La Colorada Bar donde se ven bandas de Rock and Roll como La Divina Gloria. Luego en Gran Buenos Aires hay bandas como Olevia. Muchas son las bandas emergentes en el país. Por supuesto que las grandes ya son famosas y todos saben donde serán sus shows. Pero las pequeñas y nuevas, la única manera de escucharlas es yendo a dichos lugares.
There are some other places where international bands come and play. Groove (in Palermo) is one of those. And small bands can play there too. Even though these places are kind of big, if the bands organize festivals or take the time to promote the show, it can be a unique experience for the musicians and the audience. Playing in a place where well known international artists performed, is such an honor and for 45 to 50 minutes it makes you feel like a real rock star.
Hay otros lugares donde tocan conjuntos internacionales. Groove, en Palermo, es uno de ellos. Y las bandas chicas pueden tocar allí también. Aunque el lugar se vea un poco grande, con esfuerzo y una buena publicidad del show, o bien organizando festivales, se puede lograr una experiencia única tanto para los músicos, como para los espectadores. Estar en un lugar donde tocan artistas internacionales y famosos, es un honor y por 45 o 50 minutos te hace sentir como una estrella de Rock.
All in all, never forget that music is supposed to come from the heart. Not many people are lucky enough to have a deal with record companies. And if they can get one, in some cases it means they have to do as they are told to. Unless they are Guns n’ Roses, Led Zeppelin, The Who or Black Sabbath, but this should be a topic for another article.
Habiendo dicho todo esto, nunca olviden que la verdadera música proviene del corazón. No todo el mundo tiene la suerte de tener una compañía discrográfica que lo respalde. Si logran conseguir una, en algunos casos deben hacer lo que se les indica. A menos que sean como Guns n’ Roses, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin o The Who, aunque ésto podría ser discutido en un artículo a parte.
